Abstract

This study aimed to formulate strategies for improving the productivity of oil palm harvesting workers at PT. Karangjuang Hijau Lestari 1, North Kalimantan, by considering the company’s internal and external conditions. The study employed a quantitative descriptive approach using a census method involving 75 families of harvesting workers. Data were analyzed by identifying economic, social, and work environment factors, which were subsequently assessed using a SWOT matrix to formulate alternative strategies. Strategy priorities were determined using the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) based on the Total Attractiveness Score (TAS). The SWOT analysis indicated that the company was positioned in Quadrant I, reflecting a condition in which internal strengths could be leveraged to respond to external opportunities. The QSPM results showed that the SO strategy of strengthening a performance-based incentive system, supported by improvements in performance supervision and monitoring, was the priority strategy, with the highest TAS of 3.84. This strategy represents the main alternative for improving the productivity of harvesting workers, while technical harvesting training and improvements to work equipment, with a TAS of 3.55, served as supporting strategies. Therefore, implementing performance-based incentives accompanied by performance supervision and monitoring can be a primary focus in efforts to improve the productivity of oil palm harvesting workers at PT. Karangjuang Hijau Lestari 1.
