Abstract

Saving literacy is an important component of families’ ability to manage finances, build emergency funds, and prepare business capital. In the Age-Friendly Community at RPTRA Payung Tunas Teratai, Cipayung, some participants had already set aside part of their income, but saving was not yet systematically planned or optimally directed toward productive purposes. This community service program aimed to improve participants’ understanding of saving literacy and family financial management and to provide practical skills for separating and allocating funds. The program was conducted on 4 September 2026 with 20 participants using a participatory approach comprising education, a leaflet, introduction and simulation of a Savings Management Wallet, hands-on practice, and pre- and post-test evaluation. The wallet divided funds into three categories: Household Needs, Medical and Emergency Needs, and Business Capital Savings. Evaluation results showed that the total score increased from 83 to 97, while the mean score increased from 4.15 to 4.85, a gain of 0.70 points (16.87%). These findings indicate strengthened short-term understanding following education and mentoring. The program produced an educational leaflet and a Savings Management Wallet as reusable practice media. Follow-up mentoring is needed to assess the consistency of saving behavior and the use of savings as family business capital.
