Abstract

Orphaned children require attention to health needs, particularly balanced nutrition, anemia prevention, and healthy hygiene practices. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge and awareness of orphaned children regarding balanced nutrition, anemia prevention, and clean and healthy living behaviors through an educational and participatory approach. The activity was conducted at Rumah Harapan, Cipayung, East Jakarta, on 1 September 2026 and involved 15 orphaned children (7 girls and 8 boys) and 6 administrators. Activities included basic health screening, balanced nutrition education, anemia prevention education, healthy hygiene promotion, demonstrations, practical activities, and the use of educational modules, posters, and videos. Knowledge was assessed using a 24-item pre-test and post-test. The mean score increased from 17.93/24 (74.72) before the intervention to 21.07/24 (87.78) after the intervention, representing a 13.06-point increase. The minimum score increased from 45.83 to 75.00, while the maximum score increased from 91.67 to 95.83. Program outputs included one poster, three educational modules, one documentation/educational video, and a copyright registration for the video (EC002026170873). The activity indicates that integrated health education using participatory methods and educational media can improve participants’ short-term knowledge. Continued mentoring and periodic monitoring are needed to assess sustained behavioral changes
