Abstract

Background: Perimenopause is an important transition in women's life characterized by various physical and psychological changes. Limited knowledge among Bina Keluarga Lansia (BKL) cadres may affect their ability to provide health education to middle-aged women. Objective: To improve BKL cadres' knowledge regarding perimenopause through the implementation of the MENARA Kit as a community-based educational medium. Methods: The activity involved 28 BKL cadres in Bambu Apus Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta. Participatory education included lectures, discussions, questions and answers, demonstrations, practice, and mentoring. Knowledge was evaluated using pre-test and post-test. Results: Before the intervention, 12 cadres (42.9%) had good knowledge, 5 (17.9%) moderate, and 11 (39.3%) poor knowledge. After the intervention, 20 cadres (71.4%) achieved good knowledge and 8 (28.6%) moderate knowledge, with no cadres remaining in the poor category. Conclusion: MENARA Kit-based education combined with demonstration, practice, and mentoring was associated with improved cadre knowledge and may support cadres as community women's health educators
