Abstract

Adolescence is an important transitional period from childhood to adulthood, marked by physical, psychological, emotional, and social changes. At this stage, adolescents face various challenges, including high curiosity and strong peer influence. These conditions often make them vulnerable to risky behaviors, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, drug abuse, and premarital sexual activity. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of health promotion on risky behavior and the concept of Life Skill Education (LSE) on adolescents’ knowledge at the junior high school level. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one group pre-test post-test approach, conducted at SMP Negeri 19 Bekasi in July 2025. The study population was 328 eighth-grade students, and a sample of 37 students of class VIII.1 was selected using accidental sampling. The research instrument was a knowledge questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 77.03 before the intervention to 84.05 after the intervention, with a significant difference between pre-test and post-test (p=0.004; p<0.05). In conclusion, adolescents’ knowledge about risky behavior increased after health promotion based on LSE. Future studies are suggested to use a control group and a larger sample, and to assess adolescents’ attitudes and behavior
