Abstract

Father involvement in parenting is an important component of strengthening family health and well-being; however, parenting activities within the partner community have been predominantly attended by mothers. This Community Service Program aimed to implement an initial stage of a program to encourage father involvement through Family Fun Learning and a 21-Day Challenge, while creating a more father-friendly learning environment. The program was implemented participatively in collaboration with DKM Baiturrahim Mosque, Bukit Bougenville, Jonggol, Bogor Regency, on September 5, 2026. The primary target participants were fathers with children aged 5–9 years. Program evaluation was conducted through observation of attendance and participation, baseline measurement using the Inventory of Father Involvement (IFI), and monitoring of the 21-Day Challenge through a WhatsApp group and the Father Mission Card. A total of nine fathers participated in the main activity together with their children and family members, with approximately 35 participants overall. The baseline IFI score was calculated from 35 items, with each item scored from 0 to 6 and a theoretical maximum score of 210. The mean IFI score among the nine fathers was 168.7, with scores ranging from 96 to 205. The Family Fun Learning activities included family exercise, ice breaking, collaborative father–child games, a mini talk, reflection, and a commitment declaration. The 21-Day Challenge was initiated on September 5, 2026, and monitoring indicated participant engagement in activities with their children, documented through the WhatsApp group. These findings provide an initial picture of program implementation and a basis for continuing support for father involvement. This activity represents an initial step toward empowering fathers through an interactive, community-based approach and ongoing support.
